Sketch Dailies: Troll

Now that my Sky ARTS ident is pretty much finished, i can get back to my final film again. but first... a little drawing time to treat myself. Here’s a troll for the Sketch Dailies thing. it kind of evolved into more of a caveman troll sort of thing, but hey, thats the fun of sketching.

Final Film Concept Art

Here's a final look piece of concept art for my final film. The art style is heavily inspired by the latest Mickey shorts. Im pretty happy with the stylisation of this concept, so hopefully the final result will look similar or even better :)

Playing with exaggeration

Before i start animating my final film, i wanted to play around with the facial structure of one of my films characters. I kept away from the character sheet and just focused on pushing and pulling the expression. I knew i could push the squash and stretch a lot more so I decided to try and see how far i could go. Hopefully i’ll try and exaggerate it some more, as thats my main aim for my character animation this year.

still playing with expressions in between storyboarding. studied a lot of Jin Kim’s work for some help with these. hopefully an animatic will be finished by the end of this week ready to start animating :D

My final film story boards will never get done…

I realised i forgot how to draw the face of the main character of my film so had a play around at re learning his facial anatomy and re stylised him a little, i think im liking his new look much more, but theres still a few areas i need to play around with

its not a sketch dump, so its just a dump...right?

Ive been a bit quiet recently so i thought i'd give a bit of a check in with whats going down at my end. Here's a shot of my pre production 'sketchbook', and somewhere under there is my bed... i think. My final film is coming together slowly, ive spent the past week or so mainly just sketching out storyboards, trying to nail this story down so i can move on to more fun things. I really suck at story so its been a bit rough, but hopefully it'll all come together at the end  until next time...

At work Ive just finished designing a big election phase branding which has been a new experience. Had to drop the drawing side of things and focus on a graphic design approach. It’s been a big learning curve but fun non the less. I was asked to design cups which was pretty cool, ive never designed cups before. 

and last but not least, heres another brief i recently finished and was actually happy with the design. Went for a very retro, Hanna Barbera feeling.

Melissa redesign part 2

After a busy week getting a presentation ready for uni, I decided to treat myself and colour the Melissa sketches i did the other day. Had fun playing with some new brushes and starting to get an idea of how i might paint the backgrounds for my film.
