Spoiler Alert: My first animated short film in the works

So, to those who arn't connected to my facebook page, im currently working on my own personal short film for film festival/competition http://www.depict.org/. This will be the first short film ive ever made so should be a nice eye opener to the process of making an independent film ready for next year where i make my final film for my degree.

The storyboard process is pretty much finalised given the short time scale and animation has begun (yey, my favourite part XD). Im not going to give away to much for now, but expect the final character design and various other work for it coming soon!!!

Doodlin'

YEY, i reached 1000 views on here :D probably not a big deal to many but it is to me, it means that people are actually looking at this and im not just talking to myself ... Anyway, heres just a random doodle i did to test out a new brush in photoshop. Everyday when i walk through the park and see people walking there dogs, i realise how much i miss mine. Ooh the pains of living far away from home ...

Life Drawing

Some life drawing sketches ranging from 30 seconds to 4 minutes. haven't really put much detail into heads, hands and feet, was mainly focusing improving my understanding of curves and economy of line.

Circus tent: practicing everything but design

I didnt use this so much for a design sketch but more of a  practice for pretty much everything else. ive just recently found out where the dry medium brushes are hidden in photoshop so im playing with them, had a tinker at coming out of my comfort zone when it comes to colour pallets, bit of perspective play, and i need a lot more practice with shadows. i seem to keep the shadows ver grey scale, hopefully i'll change that from now on.

Young horse run cycle line test

Young horse run cycle from Reg Isaac on Vimeo.

I've recently been way to busy to spend time drawing my own personal stuff, cant really blame it on anything but heavy work loads so i thought i'd share some of that with you instead. Ive recently been working with a client to produce a series of animated clips, with the intention of helping to teach the french language. heres a short young horse run cycle test from that in its line-test form, let me know what you think and enjoy :)

Ed Hooks Masterclass

So, yesterday i attended the Ed Hooks masterclass at Animex festival, hosted by Teeside University. after all the organising i finally managed to sort everything out and get a few of the students at my university to tag along with me. Was well worth the hassle and was a great class.

For any budding Character animators out there, i'd recommend one of his classes greatly, he's a great guy and really knows what he's talking about, which is completely understandable considering he's taught aDisney on three continents, PDI/DreamWorks, Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Sony, Blue Sky, Black Rock, Ubisoft, Midway Games, Epic Games, Valve Software and many others. He mentions some amazing details regarding the acting and performance of your characters that will dramatically improve your work, on sooooo many levels.

Also, he's a really friendly guy, he was more than happy to give us all his email, and for us to send him any work for feedback, this was the most important thing for me. He doesnt just want to teach his workshop and leave, he wants to keep teaching and help the younger generation know and understand what he already has, this to me is the sign of a true great. Someone that wants the workshop to be the start of the relationship, not the end.

Really enjoyed the workshop and hope i get to meet him again, many thanks Ed.

For anyone that is interested in his book, which goes over all the topics he mentions in his workshop, here it is :)
