Digi-fart

Its a little early but one of my new years resolutions is to learn how to actually paint properly. This is the first digital render ive ever done and figured id see where my skills are at before i start learning how to do it. This was mega fun and i learnt a heck of a lot doing it. spent way to much time on this and just wanted to call it finished now, theres still so much more i'd like to tweak but it'll do for now.

CalArts Sketchbook submission 2014

Here's my sketchbook submission for CalArts 2014. this has been the quickest sketchbook ive ever done, like seriously, it was crazy quick! 3 weeks from start to finish is a new record for me, and one i dont want to top any time soon!  im hoping to start posting more sketchbook related pages from now on, ive noticed a big improvement in little areas, nothing really that evident just yet, but they're big things for me to think about. sorry about the not so clear scans, its an A4 sketchbook and scanned on an A3 scanner.

bringing things back to life

Ive been neglecting my blogger a little as of late, i figured id quickly bring it back up to date. not much to add just yet, but all in good time :)

so im still working away on my CalArts application. my sketchbook is almost finished, and should be off and sent by the end of this week (AHHH thats some scary shit!). I'll be scanning in the pages and uploading them once its sent, so stick around for that.

Final film has been making slow progress because of my CalArts application, but should be back in action as of the 16th Dec ( after i actually start and finish my pathetic excuse of a dissertation).

Work work

Still chugging along on my final film. im hoping to perhaps share a little of the character design work with you this week, you'll just have to sit tight for now 

But for now, here's 2 of my most recent pieces for work work. ive been given a lot of creative freedom in terms of hand drawing and painting my briefs which is always fun! took 2 very different approaches to these pieces, both amazingly fun to do and learnt so much from them.

I’m off to Bradford film festival next week so I figured being the boy big animator I am now, I best get some business cards sorted out! They’re even laminated :D

Student designer stuff

Here’s a pretty cool thing I’ve recently finished for work, was pretty cool seeing the final result towering over me! 

I’ve been a bit quiet recently with final film development but hopefully I’ll start uploading some of the work I’ve done so far very soon. It’s been a rough old process with a very slow turn over, but finally I’m making some progress.

 

Hands and feet life drawing

My lecturers feedback to me the other day was to loosen up, so from here on out i plan on making an attempt at drawing a lot more freely. These aren’t exactly my best work but its a start of a new era… sort of.

Heres a few pieces from last night procrastination and todays life drawing class where we focused on hands and feet. im still trying to loosen up my lines so i kept most of these around the 2 minute mark. really loose sketching is slowly building my confidence with exaggeration, but lots of practice is still needed!!!

Student designer work

So ive been working for my Students Union as a student designer for a couple weeks now and ive been lucky enough to complete a few projects and given permission to upload them online, heres 2 of my more recent pieces. Im loving the work so far as ive got pretty much complete creative freedom with what i design, its a bit daunting as i dont really know what im doing but hey, its all a learning curve :) 

Something ive brought to the table is re-working the students union's logo into what ever i design. they were a little cautious when i first suggested it as they were worried whether it would look ok and work with the piece, but so far its all been positive feedback. i took it to an extreme and re drew the logo completely in the scroll design making it a stamp, but they were really enthusiastic for me to do that so i'll try to take a few more risks and hope they work out.
